This week in First (January 16, 2012)

In ELA/Reading we will not have a Reading Street story.  We will instead be utilizing AIMS to track growth in our students since the last testing in September. You can still practice previously covered phonics skills through

http://clo.douglas.k12.ga.us/childu/index.html (Odyssey), and starfall.com (Starfall).  We will use this week to review those phonics skills with your child
**Repetition is key!!

In Math, we will be focusing on measurement(length, weight, capacity, and time)
*You can review these concepts with your child by:
-having your child determine the heaviest of any number of objects

-(if you have a scale) measure the weight of objects, getting your child to become comfortable with the terms weight, heavy, light and pound
-utilizing odyssey at  http://clo.douglas.k12.ga.us/childu/index.html which has teacher created assignments/games

-utilizing xtramath.org  (for continued addition and subtraction help)
-utilizing starfall.com (which now has a math component)
