In ELA/Reading we are reading Frog and Toad Together: The Garden.  

This story's phonics lesson focuses on past and present tense verbs (-ed and -ign endings).  The secondary phonics concept is r controlled "ar". 

Grammar for this unit deals with verbs.

*Review these concepts with your child by:
-having your child write sentences and circle the verbs

-having your child find verbs in TV commercials, on websites, etc.

-having your child find words with the-ed or -ing in magazines, newspapers, billboards, etc. and making a book with these new found words to help with reading practice.

In Math, we will be focusing on measurement(length, weight, capacity, and time)

*You can review these concepts with your child by:
-having yoru child determine the heavier/lighter of objects around the house

-having your child determine what containers will hold the most/least amounts

-utilizing odyssey at  http://clo.douglas.k12.ga.us/childu/index.html which has teacher created assignments/games
-utilizing xtramath.org  (for continued addition and subtraction help)
-utilizing starfall.com (which now has a math component)

In Science, we are focusing on weather and water(weather patterns, water cycle). 

In Social Studies, we will continue to talk about Famous Americans.

seasons, weather, water cycle, condensation, precipitation, evaporation

-exploration, Declaration of Independence, Underground Railroad, National Parks,
